Male driver and female passenger killed in San Antonio crash

Law enforcement officers reported that two people died in a head-on collision that occurred on Oct. 13 in San Antonio. The other driver and three passengers were also seriously injured in the crash and had to be transported to the hospital.

A 23-year-old man was driving a Pontiac G8 on Vance Jackson when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the median into traffic headed in the opposite direction. He struck a Mercedes G500 that was carrying four people. The Pontiac’s driver was killed. Also killed was a 36-year-old female passenger in the Mercedes. They were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by emergency personnel.

The Mercedes’s driver and two children who were riding in the back seat of the SUV were all injured. They remain in University Hospital where they continue to receive treatment for the injuries they suffered. Police are still investigating but believe the 23-year-old man may have suffered a medical emergency that led to the accident’s occurrence.

Many things can cause a car accident, including distracted driving, drugs or alcohol and medical incidents. When a person is killed due to the negligence of another driver, his or her family may be able to recover damages for both pecuniary losses as well as punitive ones in some circumstances. Even if a collision was caused by a medical event, in some cases people who have known conditions are not supposed to drive. If they do and an accident occurs due to the condition, they or their estate may still have liability. People may wish to speak with a personal injury attorney about their individual facts in order to determine whether claims are available to them.
